08/08/08 In the News:
Russian army units (Peace keepers) entered the Georgian break-away region of South Ossetia on Friday and clashed with Georgian government forces, intensifying a conflict that could bring Moscow into confrontation with Washington, which backs the Georgian government.
Sides of the same story are very different: 1 scenario - Georgia starts the conflict ( Ossetia, Russia claim ) 2 scenario - Ossetia Starts the conflict ( Georgia backed by US claim )Whom to believe?
Beijing kicked off its much-anticipated, much-debated 2008 Summer Olympics with a four-hour opening ceremony in the “Bird’s Nest” National Stadium, the formal start to 16 days and 17 nights of media hype, soap operas, political controversies, and fierce competition between some of the world’s greatest and most inspiring athletes.
